Winter Bird Feeding Tips

Winter bird feeding is a fun thing to do and it can help birds survive through the cold and snowy weather.

Tips

To help keep your feathered friends safe, make sure to place feeders out in the open so that birds can see approaching dangers like hawks, cats and other predators.

With ponds and puddles frozen give birds a drink by getting a bird bath that has a heating element with an automatic thermostat that turns it off in warmer weather. It gives the birds a reliable source of water and it saves energy!

You can reduce bird food waste by using "waste-free" or “no hull” birdseed. It’s completely edible with no hulls or shells. The birds love it, it won’t attract mice and you end up with less mess to clean up in the spring!
